Title: I am a Tree
|
||
I am a tree. I stand here on top of a hill, silhouetted against the fading light of the sky and I know. Today I truly understand what it means to be me. Today I killed my own father and my girlfriend hardly batted a false eyelash. Today I stepped over the stagnant body of my girlfriend and my lips hardly cracked a false smile. I stand here now, still and unmoving and the emptiness permeates my soul. But I am strong. I can feel my strength coursing through my veins. I am better than a tree. The wind no longer runs through the unruly hairs on my head and tosses and turns them however it sees fit. I have dominion over every inch of myself. I have cut off everything that I could not control. I have pruned my very existence. It will take more than a mere gale to uproot me now. I tilt my chin up slightly and allow my face to bathe in the dying sunlight. I have never been stronger. I am a tree. I have also never been more alone.
