She watches as he twirls another woman around the dance floor. It has
been this way all night, one after another clamoring to dance with him.
His mother sits beside her, giving her the dirt on each of them. If she
were less secure, she might be jealous. But she knows Nick loves her,
and he shows it once more by looking over at her with a grin and a wink.
John Michael Montgomery’s gentle twang sounds through the dance
hall, and she smiles at the lyrics.
“That’s right,” Sara thinks, “Dream on, Texas
ladies. He’s coming home with me.”
