Sentenced

Weiss ran his foot along Sydney’s soft, yet prickly leg, his nose buried in her hair, his lips chasing her ear. “Tell the truth,” he whispered. She gulped, her reticence now audible. “Women never shave.”

Her head snapped back and their noses brushed. “This seduction was not premeditated.”

“The jury will consider your defense.” His wit elicited a giggle, or perhaps she remembered that despite their nakedness, he still wore a watch and she, a necklace.

“What’s my sentence?” Like last night’s New Year’s kiss, Sydney’s grin unnerved and overwhelmed him.

Predictably, regret beat lust to the punch. “Time served.”
